Chris Penrose, President of AT&T’s Internet of Things

Chris Penrose is President of AT&T’s Internet of Things (IoT) organization. Chris is responsible for leading AT&T’s global Internet of Things initiatives across industry verticals. This includes auto, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, finance, energy, smart cities, public safety, retail and consumer electronics.

Chris and his team operate on a global scale and drive the strategy and execution for highly-secure connectivity, platforms, professional services and end-to-end IoT solutions. From connected cars to connected cities, Chris has led AT&T to become recognized as one of the leading IoT companies in the world. Chris has also been recognized for championing innovation. He spearheaded the creation of the AT&T Drive Studio for connected vehicles, the AT&T Healthcare Foundry and the AT&T IoT Foundry, all which focus on making it easy for developers and businesses to create and implement IoT solutions.

Wesley J. Johnston

Wesley J. Johnston, Chief Executive Officer, Telecom Industry Association

Mr. Johnston joined TIA as its CEO in June 2017. He brings more than 25 years of experience delivering global solutions in information and communications technologies (ICT), as well as a keen sense of how business, government and associations should work together to drive industry innovation.

Prior to joining TIA, Mr. Johnston was the Managing Director of Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT investments for the Gores Group, a leading global private equity M&A firm). As an active technology company board member, he was responsible for portfolio company oversight as well as leading operational due diligence efforts for the firm’s TMT investments. Prior to joining The Gores Group, Mr. Johnston held senior executive positions with global, multi-national firms as well as start-up technology companies. He was EVP and Chief Operating Officer with Dimension Data, where he led sales, marketing, solutions development and service delivery across the Americas for the $6 billion technology integrator.

Sankaran Ramanathan, Executive Director, Network Support Systems, Verizon Wireless

Sankaran Ramanathan is currently Executive Director, Network Support Systems at Verizon Wireless, focused on strategic initiatives improving overall wireless device quality and customer experience. Mr. Ramanathan leads a team of technical professionals and engineers dedicated to evaluating return trends to achieve high-performance standards. He is also responsible for quality management reviews with suppliers and OEMs to monitor KPI trends, improve performance metrics and achieve operational efficiencies.

He leads a group of professionals responsible for the transformation of device quality assurance and testing to higher standards as part of supply chain management. Under his direction, the team has developed technical guidance procedures, customer issue detection tools, Joint-OEM-Tests to accomplish Return Rate Reduction and improve Defect Detection. Mr. Ramanathan has been part of Verizon Wireless in various executive positions and well experienced in the telecommunication industry for over 20 yrs. in the area of network planning, engineering and device operational management.
